This is just a small selection of the many great science events for young people and families in the UK in 2024. With so much to choose from, there’s sure to be something to spark your curiosity and ignite a passion for science in everyone.

Keep an eye out for local science festivals and events happening throughout the year. Many museums, libraries, and community centers host regular science-themed activities.

Great Science Share for Schools:

  • Location: Nationwide 

  • Title: Great Science Share

  • About: A time when you give more time and opportunity for pupils to ask, investigate and share scientific questions.  Involve pupils in practical investigations during a series of science lessons, a special science day or week, attending an event inside or outdoors where lots of practical science is happening. It’s really your choice. The unique feature of Great Science Shares is the way that pupils are the science communicators. This is their time to share their science – it’s your time to notice their confidence, creativity and capability!”

British Science Week:

  • About: A ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering, and maths with a focus on the theme of “Change and Adapt” Expect hands-on activities, workshops, talks, demonstrations, and more, all designed to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists.

National Science Museum Lates:

  • Dates: Every month on a Thursday evening (check website for specific dates)

  • Location: Science Museum, London

  • Title: Varies (themed evenings based on different scientific topics)

  • About: Explore the museum after dark with special activities, talks, demonstrations, and live music. Each month has a different theme, such as “Dinosaurs” or “Space.”
