TCS are a world leading IT and Technology company and this year we are thrilled to invite you to take part in the goIT Somerscience Digital Innovation Challenge! This exciting
competition gives you the chance to design a tech solution that addresses a sustainability issue in Somerset.
‘Big Ideas: Design a creative tech solution that helps to make Somerset more sustainable’
You are tasked with creating a solution this can be:
A mobile app
An AI-powered tool
A robot
A Geographic Information System (GIS) application
An Internet of Things (IoT) device
or even a fun. creative gizmo or gadget like a watch, or item of clothing. Think outside of the box, the more creative the better!
Your innovation should focus on solving a local sustainability challenge such as:
- Reducing waste and pollution in your community
- Sustainable Transport in Somerset
- Improving sustainable agriculture in Somerset
- Helping protect Somerset’s local wildlife
- Or any other environmental, social, or economic sustainability issue affecting our local community.
Who can participate
All young people from Somerset and surrounding areas who are interested in technology and sustainability. No previous experience is needed, just your creativity and passion for making a difference. Ages 5-14.
Get ready to innovate, create and make a difference in Somerset’s future!
Challenge Guidelines:
- Identify a sustainability issue in Somerset that you are passionate about.
- Brainstorm a digital solution that could address this issue. Get creative and think about how technology could make a positive impact.
- Design your solution in the form of an app, AI tool, robot, GIS application, IoT device, or gadget on paper or online. The judges are looking for ideas that stand out, think about how your design looks, colours, logos and how easy your tech solution is to use!
You should send over a hand drawn or digital design of your innovation. With annotations, that just means labels showing us what the main features of your tech solution are, with a paragraph
or slide deck pitching your idea, that explains your innovation, the problem it solves, and how it will help Somerset be more sustainable.
Remember you can submit your pitch as a written word document or slide presentation. This is your chance to WOW the judges!
