Overview

Bath has a long-standing tradition of amateur and professional astronomy, from William and Caroline Herschel detecting the planet Uranus from their garden observatory in town in 1781, to present-day academic research into cosmology, galaxies and black holes at the University of Bath. Join us at our stand to explore the impact of relativity theory on our research computer simulations and to see some of the telescopes we use for teaching and for our professional and amateur astronomy observations. Details of the amateur society can be found at https://bathastronomers.org.uk, and details of Bath University
