Why Somerscience?

Rural areas, and South Somerset in particular, are not well served for opportunities to engage with science, technology, engineering and maths. The British Science Association (2022) identified South Somerset as being in the bottom 10 areas nationally for provision of STEM outreach. Yet amazing STEM developments are taking place all around the county and underpinning much of what we usually associate with Somerset!

It’s time to let the people of Somerset in to the latest exciting science and technology developments on their doorstep and inspire future generations.
